The Aesthetic Surgery Institute of America, also known as ASIA, was opened by Drs. Nicole & Jayen Patel in January 2009. The office is very unique, both in its philosophy and its practice. Set in midtown Tulsa on Cherry Street, you will find the simple modern atmosphere of ASIA to be a refreshing experience. Our Symbol
The meaning of a dragonfly varies from one culture to the next, but it is often considered to be a symbol of renewal and positive force and can also be a symbol of the sense of self that comes with maturity. Some animal symbolism has the dragonfly representing prosperity, good luck, strength, peace, harmony & purity. The dragonfly has been a symbol of happiness, new beginnings and change for many centuries.
The Surgeon
Dr. Nicole Patel
Dr. Nicole Patel was born and raised just outside of Chicago, Illinois. Her hard work and achievements started in her youth, when she was a state champion in competitive gymnastics. Her academics were never overlooked, and she was valedictorian of her high school graduating class.
She attended the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana for her undergraduate studies, graduating Summa Cum Laude with Highest Departmental Distinction. Dr. Patel went on to complete her medical degree at the highly regarded Rush Medical College in Chicago. Rush has been named as one of the top five academic medical centers by the University Health-System Consortium.
Dr. Patel then completed a five year general surgery residency in New York City at Mount Sinai Cabrini Medical Center. She was asked to be the administrative surgical chief during her final year. It was during internship in New York that she met her husband, Dr. Jayen Patel.
She subsequently completed a cosmetic surgery fellowship before starting her own practice, Aesthetic Surgery Institute of America (also known as ASIA). She is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and is board eligible by the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery.
Dr. Nicole Patel is also the proud mother of an adorable son, Luca.
The Anesthesiologist
Dr. Jayen Patel
Dr. Jayen Patel was born and raised in East Africa in Nairobi, Kenya. He moved to the USA for his undergraduate studies and medical education at the highly regarded Boston University. There he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology and graduated Summa Cum Laude. For his research in mammalian neuroendocrinology, he was awarded the distinguished Howard Hughes fellowship award for independent research which led to a senior thesis concerning the hormonal effects on the brain that predict behavior. That research awarded Dr. Patel a distinction in biological Sciences by Boston University, and he was named class speaker.
Dr. Patel continued his training in Manhattan, NY at the Mt. Sinai Cabrini Medical Center, where he completed a year of General Surgery training. He furthered his specialization in Anesthesiology at New York University and is Board Certified in Anesthesiology through the American Board of Anesthesiology.
After Drs. Nicole & Jayen Patel moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 2008, Dr. Jayen Patel joined a group specializing in pain management. He has now opened his own practice, Oklahoma Pain & Wellness Center, which offers comprehensive pain management care.
Dr. Patel is a native of Kenya and is at ease speaking Kiswahili and Gujarati. His interests beyond medicine lie in photography, painting, scuba diving, golf, travel, and spending time with their son, Luca.
Licensed Medical Aesthetician
Christine Bauguess
Christine Bauguess is our medical aesthetician at Aesthetic Surgery Institute of America. She has over 20 years in the medical field, the last 6 of which have been in the cosmetic surgery industry. She has always been passionate about skin care and received her aesthetic license from Clary Sage here in Tulsa.
She handles the skin care portion of the practice and is very knowledgeable in all aspects of cosmetic surgery as well. She enjoys educating our patients and helping them achieve their desired results. She is very passionate about skin care and well trained in the Obagi™ Skin Care System.
Christine is also certified to apply Novalash™ eyelash extensions, which is offered at the office as well.
She is originally from the Los Angeles area, and is the mother of two boys. In her spare time she likes to read, volunteer and spend time with her husband and family.
